2U, Inc. | Instructional Designer
October 2018 - October 2019

Highlight:  My team of 4 instructional designers designed and developed a comprehensive 5 week curriculum for the largest and fastest growing department at 2U (800 employees). We worked with 80 SMEs and created over 100 products, ranging from instructor-led/virtual-led trainings (including participant and facilitator guides), micro-learning videos, e-learning modules, infographics, handouts and learning transfer activities. We developed a  manager guide outlining their weekly responsibilities to support the learners, and provided learners with an online resource of terms, procedures and best practices to refer back to after completing the curriculum.
  • Using the ADDIE model, design and develop interactive and engaging virtual and instructor-led learning experiences for new hire on-boarding and department specific curriculum

  • Work directly with Sponsors to determine learner objectives and learning gaps and identify ideal SMEs for content collection

  • Provide support and guidance to SMEs to streamline the content collection process by providing templates and resources, setting goals and expectations, and scheduling checkpoints and working meetings

  • Develop storyboards and scripts for SME feedback

  • Design and develop visual assets including video, illustrations, interactive media and animations

  • Conduct pilots and user groups to refine product for final distribution

  • Lead monthly internal ISD team learning sessions to train ISDs on advanced utilization of Illustrator, Photoshop, Animate, Premiere Pro and AfterEffects

  • Using an agile development model, work with 2U's Technology Department to design micro-learning videos, job-aids and infographics to rollout new software features for primary and secondary audiences.

Sonalysts Studios | Interactive Media Developer | Courseware Developer
July 2015 - October 2018

Highlight:  When Adobe announced Flash would no longer be supported, I was tasked with getting the development team up to speed with HTML5 technologies. I created reusable templates for our most used interactions (drag and drops, multiple choice, timeline controller, zoom functionality, etc.), and held weekly team training sessions on Adobe Animate and the CreateJS javascript library to transfer their knowledge of Flash and Actionscript workflows to HTML5.
  • Analyze learning objectives to design and program user stories, interactions, feedback and evaluation for training simulations in 2D and 3D

  • Design and develop animations and interactive graphics

  • Design and program reusable courseware widgets for UX controls and custom data visualization/interaction

  • Design logic for complex mechanical systems for procedural training

  • Script user lockstep scenarios for 3D simulation training based on SME supplied job sheets

  • Script user interactions, feedback and system specific toolkits for 3D simulation training

  • Author SCORM wrapped packages using proprietary HTML export software

  • Research and implement software, hardware and work-flows for development team to stay current with emerging HTML5 technologies

OBGProject | Freelance Instructional Designer
January 2017 - May 2018

Highlight:  I was hired by the OBGProject to develop a mobile learning solution for their ‘on-the-go’ doctors. I researched Learning Management Systems and HTML5 solutions compatible with Adobe Captivate. Because the SMEs were busy, I implemented an agile prototyping development process to minimize rework and misunderstandings. I developed and implemented 2 mobile friendly courses for their subscription learning plan.
  • Designed and developed learning solutions to educate doctors specializing in women’s health to stay current with medical advances while earning CME credits

  • Collaborated with SME’s to identify knowledge gaps to keep instruction succinct and relevant

  • Created storyboards and worked closely with SME’s using Skype video conferences and shared Google docs to identify learning objectives and supporting content

  • Developed engaging formative assessments using Adobe Captivate’s advanced drag and drop and hot-spot features

  • Designed responsive templates for e-learning courses using Adobe Captivate and HTML5  for cross-platform access

  • Designed information graphics for medical documents

Kongsberg Maritime | Senior Database Developer

Highlight:  One of the core responsibilities of the Senior Database Developer is to support training initiatives for both employees and customers. When promoted to this role, I created a formal course outline, learning objectives, and assessments that became the framework for all trainings. Additionally, I developed worked examples, handouts, illustrations and micro-learning videos as resources for the learners.
  • Designed/delivered an instructor-led 2 week basic training course with supporting documents including quick-start guides, worked examples and final project requirements for course evaluation

  • Designed and delivered custom training programs for development of 3D assets for real-time simulations

During my first 2.5 years at Sonalysts, I learned actionscript and advanced animation techniques and developed several large scale simulations within budget for naval contracts.
  • Produced interactive courseware for the Submarine On Board Training (SOBT) web-based training modules. Required expert proficiency with Adobe Flash, Photoshop, and Illustrator used in conjunction to create dynamic animations, simulations, and illustrations for training courseware graphics. Developed a solid understanding of Actionscript, the programming language of Flash, to create interactivity within simulations and animations.
